Bookshop Description

A relatively recent addition to the High Street in Hay-on-Wye (the Welsh book town perhaps best known for the annual Hay Literary Festival) selling only new books (all the other 20+ bookshops in Hay sell mainly secondhand or remaindered titles). The main focus is female literature, Welsh titles and environmental books (fiction/non-fiction). Fantasy is also well-stocked as well as Children's books. There is a pop-up cafe on a Friday morning (10-12) and the coffee is locally-roasted from nearby Ross-on-Wye James Gourmet. The owner, Jules North, has spent a lifetime devouring books and with her bookish staff is happy to recommend titles to fit most briefs. There is plenty of comfy seating and an entire reading room that is mainly home to the bookshop's book groups (that meet bi-monthly) and author events (see website for event details).

Opening hours

Mon-Sat 9.30-5pm

Ceramics by 4 local makers (mugs, small figures), cards (mainly local artist makers), great coffee on a Friday.
