The winners at Ardfert Central National School

Announcing this year's winning school...

Thank you to everyone who spread the word about the prize and nominated a school. We received thousands of nominations and we're delighted to announce that this year's winning school is... Ardfert Central National School, a primary school in Co. Kerry, Ireland! The school has received €5,000 of National Book Tokens, and announced the exciting news to pupils and parents at the beginning of term this autumn. Their prize will enable them to buy hundreds of lovely new books for their library from their local bookshop, and encourage reading for pleasure in generations of children.

Accepting their prize, the school's principal, Betty Stack, said:

"We are very grateful and excited to have won €5,000 of National Book Tokens.

Our new books will be of tremendous benefit to kickstart the new school year and will encourage and establish strong reading habits in our young pupils. They will instil in our pupils a love of reading for life."

Congratulations, Ardfert Central National School!

Fill the library with new books!

A good school library isn't just important for academic achievement. Reading for pleasure also improves children's wellbeing – something our children need now more than ever before.

Our big prize draw returned this spring and summer, giving one lucky school the chance to win £5,000/€5,000 of National Book Tokens for their library.

Congratulations to this year's winning school, and to Paula, one of the parents at the school, whose nomination was picked. Paula also took home a €120 National Book Token of her own to spend on lovely books.
