Bookshop Description
Carnforth Bookshop is an independent, family run bookshop at the heart of the historic town of Carnforth, Lancashire. We are proud to be part of the local community and support local jobs.
The town is best know for its history with the railways and ironworks, and was famously used as a filming location for David Lean’s ‘Brief Encounter’ with the famous clock and refreshment room still an attraction today.
The bookshop was established in 1977 and is situated across three floors and many rooms, although there was a much earlier bookshop on the site during the Victorian period.
Nowadays we stock a wide variety of products, including New, Second Hand and Antiquarian Books, as well as a large selection of Maps. Customers can order new books and have them delivered to the store within 24 hours, we can also supply schools with books in larger quantities.
The shop also sells a large selection of Cards and Gifts, Children’s Toys, Stationery and Art Materials. We also have Seasonal Ranges in stock from Valentines Day and Easter, to Halloween and Christmas.
We take part in many events including World Book Day, World Book Night, Bookstart, Books Are My Bag and Independent Bookshop Week.
