For World Book Day 2021, National Book Tokens and World Book Day challenged young bookworms across the UK and Ireland to make their mark on their very own National Book Tokens gift card.
The National Book Tokens panel judged thousands of imaginative designs and whittled down the entries to the final six.
The winner and runner-up in each of the three age categories has won up to £450/€505 of National Book Tokens for themselves and their school – just think of all those beautiful new books. At National Book Tokens, we know that books aren't just important for academic achievement. Reading for pleasure also improves children's wellbeing – something our children need now more than ever before.
Designed by Maia, age 15, Thetford Grammar School, Thetford
Maia's design will be made into a real National Book Tokens gift card, available in bookshops in time for Christmas. The judges love Maia's creative digital art, which captures some of the fantastical adventures that stories can take us on. The design is also emblazoned with a term all booklovers can all relate to: 'abibliophobia (uh-bib-li-uh-fo-bee-yuh). The fear of running out of things to read'. Congratulations, Maia!
