Vote for your favourite Harry Potter character

As part of the 20th anniversary celebrations for Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, National Book Tokens and Bloomsbury Publishing launched a massive search to find the nation’s favourite character from the Harry Potter books. We selected 20 key characters and asked you to vote for the one you thought was the best.

Now, 20 years to the day that Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone was first published on 26th June 1997, we can announce that Hermione Granger snatched the top spot.

More than 10,000 magical votes were cast over two weeks and Hermione gained 15% of the overall vote, putting her in first place. Hermione appeared in all seven of the Harry Potter novels and came to be an integral part in Harry Potter’s legacy as well as one of his closest friends.
