This summer term, we asked children to send us their own dazzling National Book Token designs, from the school crest doodled in ink, a pencil drawing of the entire class, to something completely different.

Six weekly winners throughout May and June each had their artwork made into up to 35 gift cards, each loaded with £10/€10 to spend on brilliant books – that's one for them, and one for everyone else in their class!

The competition is now closed and you can see all the winners below, plus a selection of our favourite entries.

National Book Tokens gift cardsNational Book Tokens have been inspiring booklovers since 1932. We work with our charity partners at World Book Day, Book Aid International and Read for Good – and through the thousands of people who give National Book Tokens as gifts and rewards each year – to encourage a lifelong love of reading among children everywhere.

Accepted in thousands of bookshops and online, National Book Tokens are the perfect way to reward and inspire.

Last year's winners

We were blown away by the talent on show in 2020! Each winning young designer and their classmates received a £10/€10 National Book Token – emblazoned with the winning artwork – to inspire them to choose their next favourite book from their local bookshop.

The Winners

Congratulations to Bluebelle, age 10, from Combe Down Primary School in Bath - our sixth and final winner for 2021! Her beautiful design reminds us that books have the power to transport and unite us; she and her classmates will each receive a gift card bearing her wonderful artwork and loaded with £10 to spend on books.
